Vertical Blenders - Gentle Blending

April 14, 2014
Designed for low-impact blending, Ross Vertical Blenders feature a conical vessel and a slow-turning screw that can thoroughly agitate a wide variety of materials including powders, granules, pellets, fibers, slurries and pastes. The screw turns on its own axis while being rotated around the vessel by an orbital arm. Batch materials are lifted to the uppermost level of the cone then cascade slowly back down in regions opposite the moving screw. This mechanism is not only advantageous for blending friable ingredients but also for coating solids with a minor liquid component and for vacuum drying of heat-sensitive applications.

Available in many sizes from 1 through 500 cu.ft., Ross Vertical Blenders do not require a bottom support bearing to keep the screw steady so discharge is always virtually 100% complete. This “unsupported screw” design also simplifies cleaning and maintenance.

. The screw agitator and the orbital arm are driven by two separate variable-speed motors to 100 rpm and 2.5 rpm, respectively. The dished cover includes sight glass ports, a 6” charging port, vacuum connection/exhaust, and quick-release clamps. A motorized lift raises and lowers the vacuum-rated conical vessel for complete access during cleaning. The Vertical Blender can be supplied with a jacket for heating/cooling as well as a lumpbreaker for breaking apart agglomerates when needed. On this unit, a double mechanical seal with barrier system is supplied for the lumpbreaker.
