The (S.L.I.M.)™ Solids and Liquids Injection Manifold adds to the flexibility of the VersaMix product line. The SLIM system takes advantage of the strong vacuum force that occurs above the rotor of the High Shear Rotor-Stator Mixer, and sucks in powders or liquids for immediate emulsification or dispersion.

The specially designed rotor and customized lower frame flange enable direct connection of a tube to a hopper or wand arrangement. The SLIM system works well under ambient or vacuum conditions. Under vacuum, the differential pressure between the inside and outside of the vessel creates a supplemental motivating force for powder or liquid induction. Additionally, incorporating ingredients under vacuum helps maintain an air-free product, eliminating the need for lengthy post-process deaeration steps.

Typical uses for the SLIM system are for the induction of difficult to wet solids such as fumed silica, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, gums, thickeners and many pigments. The end result of using the SLIM system is a much faster and more thorough wet out of difficult to wet solids and minor liquids.
